About Volunteering With Bookshare.org

With your help, the vision of dramatically increased access to books by people in the United States with print disabilities can be realized.

You can help grow the Bookshare.org collection of accessible books by volunteering over the Internet. Volunteers contribute to the collection by:

  • Submitting scanned books
  • Preparing submitted books for publication on Bookshare.org. Volunteers use the Bookshare.org volunteer website to verify key book data, enter descriptive information, convert file formats, and more.

The community of volunteers helping to build the collection is already growing, and volunteers come from both the visually impaired and sighted communities, and can be computing professionals or Internet novices. Anyone with an Internet connection and an interest in making books accessible can get involved.

You don't need to have a print disability or become a subscriber to volunteer at Bookshare, but you must register as an individual member on our site. If you are already registered, login If you are a new user, Join Now!.
