Formatted Scan Quality This quality level provides some improvements that ensure the book has critical readability without editing
detailed text errors that were introduced by scanning. This alternative adds basic structure but is short of full
proofreading, which adds significant expense to the embossed book. Includes:
- Formatting by a certified transcriber of the file that originated from a Scan Quality book
- Key title page information is retained (title, author, publisher, number of Braille pages and number of
volumes)
- Formatted table of contents with corresponding Braille page numbers
- Page numbering consistent with interpoint pagination
- Centered chapter headings
- Extra line breaks and page breaks removed
- If text has jumped into heading placeholders, or otherwise out of order, it is reorganized
Does NOT include:
- Creating or reconstructing an index
- Formatting tables or charts
- A full title page
- A bibliography
- Addition of standard running headers or footers on each page
- Full proofreading by a certified proofreader. Text errors in punctuation, spelling, and/or spacing would
remain; corrections missed by global search and replaces would not be individually fixed.
