School and Group Accounts
Bookshare.org School or Group Accounts offer two ways to provide books to the students or individuals with whom you work.
This page can help you decide which option is best for your school or group.
Institutional Access
An Institutional Access Account will let you purchase a pre-set number of books. Your school or group's staff will be able to download these books and deliver them directly to qualified students or individuals signed up under your Account.
Institutional Access is great for schools that want to download the books for their students. It is also good for schools with younger students or students who may not have individual access to the Internet. With Institutional Access, you purchase only the specific books you plan to download for your students. This account type does not enable independent student access to the Bookshare.org collection.
Sponsored Subscriptions
Sponsoring multiple subscriptions is ideal for schools that want to encourage independent student access to our entire library of books. These individuals will have independent access to any of the books from Bookshare.org through their "all-you-can-read" * subscriptions. You can manage these subscriptions under one Account, using the online account management system we provide. And, you can choose to have us bill you or to pay up front.
This account type is well-suited for young adults, college-age students, and users sponsored by rehab agencies or state-commissions, whomever may access our collection on their own. This account type does not limit the number of books students may download. Each individual must have a valid and unique email address.
Still have questions? Contact us at groupaccounts@bookshare.org, or by phone at 650-644-3433 and we'd be glad to help.
* For practical reasons, subscribers wishing to download more than 100 books a month should email support@bookshare.org to request extending the limit once the limit is reached.
