I'm John Taylor. I work in the Nightside - the gaudy, neon noir, secret heart of London, where it's always 3am. I have a gift for finding things, like the Unholy Grail, Judas's cup that he drank from at the Last Supper.
Fifteen years ago they saved their ravaged land from dark terror. Then they left to escape their own legend. They say you can't go home again. They're wrong. The Forest Kingdom has never fully recovered from the long night of the Blue Moon. Chaos has given rise to dangerous and divisive new beliefs. King Harald has been assassinated. And as warring factions plot to gain power, brave men venture into the fearsome depths of the Inverted Cathedral--and descend into the throes of madness. The kingdom's last hope lies with its long-lost heroes--Prince Rupert and Princess Julia.... Now they're known as Hawk and Fisher. They're tough cops fighting a losing battle in a town called Haven, where virtue invariably turns into vice--and where every good cause is eventually lost. They're ready for a change, for a new challenge. They're going back to the land that still haunts their dreams--as the Blue Moon threatens to rise once again.
Rupert didn't especially want to be a prince. And he certainly never asked to be the second son of a royal line that really didn't need a spare. So he was sent out to slay a dragon and prove himself-a quest straight out of legend. But he also discovered the kinds of things legends tend to leave out, as well as the usual demons, goblins, the dreaded Night Witch-and even worse terrors hidden in the shadows of Darkwood. Rupert did find a fiery dragon-and a beautiful princess to rescue. But the dragon turned out to be a better friend than anyone back at the castle, and with the evil of Darkwood spreading, Rupert was going to need all the friends he could get.
Simon R. Green is an English fantasist and sf writer who is best known for his space opera and his heroic fantasy spoofs. This is just as quirky as his other work. Imagine an alternate Stratford on Avon where a descendant of the God Thor is just hanging out and where an evil genius plans to destroy both this alternate world and the real one. This is fantasy that is just plain fun.
John Taylor is a P.I. with a special talent for finding lost things in the dark and secret center of London known as the Nightside. He's also the reluctant owner of a very special - and dangerous - weapon, Excalibur, the legendary sword. To find out why he was chosen to wield it, John must consult the Last Defenders of Camelot who dwell in a place that some find more frightening than the Nightside. London Proper. It's been years since John's been back - and there are good reasons for that.
They're the battle-scarred crimebusters of a neverending urban war.... Hawk rules the streets by broadsword. Fisher cracks down on toughs with the deadly dagger that she wields with unflinching skill. Their merciless beat is the rough town misnamed Haven--a dark and murderous place overrun with spell-casters, demons, and thieves. Ready money will buy anything in their town... Anything except justice. That requires a magic touch.
John Taylor. I find things that are lost in the Nightside, the city within London where it's always 3am. Griffin, the immortal, has asked me to find his granddaughter and designated heir.
John Taylor, PI in the Nightside. What I do is find things, and in this case, the truth about the origins of the Nightside. Turns out its creator was my mother.
There is a new Sheriff in town, and he got the Night side rich and powerful quaking in their boots. He is The Walking Man, and it's his mission to exorcise sinners with extreme prejudice. Problem is, the Night side was built on sin and corruption.
The name's Bond. Shaman Bond. Actually, that's just my cover. I'm Eddie Drood. But when your job includes a license to kick supernatural arse on a regular basis, you find your laughs where you can. For centuries, my family has been the secret guardian of humanity, all that stands between all of you and all of the really nasty things that go bump in the night. As a Drood field agent I wore the golden torc, I killed monsters, and I protected the world. I loved my job. Right up to the point when my own family declared me rogue for no reason, and I was forced to go on the run. Now the only people who can help me prove my innocence are the people I used to consider my enemies. I'm Shaman Bond, very secret agent. And I'm going to prove to everyone that no one does it better than me.
The name's John Taylor. I find things in the garish streets of the Nightside, where inhuman creatures walk in the endless darkness. I'm trying to find a singer whose fans die...
Recently I found the true identity of my mother, a being who's been around since before the dawn of history. She created Nightside, now she wants to destroy it...
John Taylor, PI for hire in the Nightside, where the sun never shines and pleasure and horror are always on sale, for the right price. Now I have to stop her, but how to do it without fulfilling the prophecy that say whatever action I take, not only is the Nightside doomed, but the rest of the world as well.
When Joanna Barrett showed up, asking me John Taylor to find her runaway teenager daughter, I discovered that the girl had gone to the Nightside, that square mile of Hell in the middle of London where it's always 3am, where you can walk beside myths and drink with monsters.
John Taylor's the name. I'm a PI working that small slice of mystical real estate in the hidden center of London that's called the Nightside. It's a place where the sun doesn't shine, where monsters and men walk side by side, and where you can fulfill your every dark and depraved desire...
