- Synopsis
- At fifty-six, Eugene henderson is searching for adventure and the meaning of life. He's been a soldier and a pig farmer, has billions of dollars, and is struggling to save his second marriage. a voice in his mind cries, I want, I want--but he doesn't know what it wants. so off he goes to Africa. He becomes involved in the doings of two communities there, and he uses all his considerable ingenuity and physical strength to help his new friends. But the results are not what he expects, and Henderson finds himself in deep trouble. Even so, it's possible that he may find the answers he seeks, when he's not trying to rid a cistern of frogs, help a king catch a lion, lift a huge statue of a god, or fulfill his other duties as the new rain king. Henderson may just come out a winner, if he lives. This is a wildly comic, philosophical, and oddly touching novel.
