- Synopsis
- Paul M. A. Linebarger wrote all of his fiction under one pseudonym or another. He is best known and greatly regarded for his science fiction work published under the name "Cordwainer Smith". "Ria" is Linebarger's first published fictional work (1947) and as such, might be of interest to "Cordwainer Smith's" fans.. While it does not rise to the heights of his science fiction, "Ria" gives a foreshadowing of the style and interests of his later work, including some beautiful narrative, very strange characters and situations, a taste for attention-grabbing names (such as the Prinz Todschonotschidsche), cruelty, psychotherapy, and cats.
