- Synopsis
- In 2002 the author of this proposed new edition, Bill Beaumont, produced a manual on electric fishing for the Environment Agency. This manual has been widely used and the aim of this new edition is to give more comprehensive information about the technical and theoretical aspects, but in easily understood language and format. In addition, practical guidance gained from over 35 years' experience of carrying out the process is also given. There has always been a concern for fish welfare while electrofishing, and emphasis will be given to the concept of promoting fish welfare above fish capture. The book also includes information on basic electric circuit theory, choice of equipment, output characteristics and use, which will enable good fish capture efficiency with minimum incidence and severity of fish damage. The information and guidance provided in this book is fundamental to enabling users to have a good understanding of the factors that influence efficient equipment set-up and benign fish capture.
