- Synopsis
- In this semi-autobiographical story, the author tells of Luvvy Savage, the middle child in a large family, who wants more than anything to be one of the "girls", as her older half-sisters are called, instead of one of the "children" as she and her two younger siblings are called. During the summer of 1915, when she turns twelve, Luvvy has several life-changing experiences that teach her much about herself and about life in general.
