The Secret Life of Bees
By:
- Synopsis
- In 1964 14-year-old Lily Owens flees her abusive father and sets out in search of the truth about her mother, who died 10 years before. The picture of a black madonna inscribed with the name Tiburon, South Carolina, leads her to three African American sisters who raise bees and sell Black Madonna Honey. The sisters take in Lily and her former nanny, Rosaleen, who is wanted by the police for insulting a white man. The novel focuses on Lily's relationships with the sisters, her coming to terms with her mother's death, and her growing sense of faith in herself.

I loved this book. It was easy to follow. It did have a few curse words encluding GD, N word - F word, and others. The book made me want to go find the pink house, and buy honey.
