This sequel to My Friend Flicka continues the story of Ken McLauchlin and his family and the horses of the Goose Bar Ranch. Flicka's first foal is a pure white colt, a throwback to his wild albino ancestor. Ken tries to conquer Thunderhead's wild nature and train him to be a race horse. In another narrative thread, Ken's parents struggle to recraft their marriage as their sons grow up and their hopes for the ranch begin to founder.
