Inspector Wexford's investigation of the murder
of a paint sales manager points to a number of suspects. The
victim was not only guilty of financial misdeeds, but also
was a bigamist and a philanderer who focused on Lolita types.
Later, when several men are knifed, the detective wonders if
the murders are related to a local radical feminist cult.
