- Synopsis
- The totalitarianisms of Italian fascism and Leninist Bolshevism have shared intellectual roots in classical Marxism, argues Gregor (political science, U. of California at Berkeley) as he traces Marxist and fascist ideas concerning revolutionary morality and ethics, nationalism and nationalities questions, the use of violence, the relationship of the individual to the collective, and related issues from classical Marxism, through the "heterodox Marxisms" of Ludwig Woltman, George Sorel, Vladimir Lenin, and Benito Mussolini, and finally to the instantiation of Leninism and fascism following the First World War.
