Our narrator is a young average to poor lad in England. He meets a young aristocratic Diana, who befriends him. Diana is aware of the social problems of befriending a lad, who is far below her social level. She remains in contact with him when she is home from school, throughout the years, and marriage might happen. Society would never accept this. She is always pushing buttons and acting like a spoiled brat. Is Diana just toying with our narrator? Is she serious?
