The plot is very reminiscent of the Bourne series. I found the discussions between the Professor and his protegee-the head of Consular Ops-to be very boring and drawn out, as were the parts depicting the situation in China. In general, the center section of the book lagged. The finale had a good build up and some surprises, but I found many aspects to have been predictable. Overall, I was entertained enough to finish the tale, but feel dissatisfied with the telling.
