- Synopsis
- Those who have followed Eddie Wilson in and out of his many adventures know that he is always ready in an emergency. Never are his talents more needed, however, than the time his school first holds an election for student council. With unrestrained gusto, the children jump into the campaign, and for two weeks electoral madness sweeps the classrooms. Due to an unfortunate delay in returning to school, Eddie misses the opportunity to become a candidate himself. Nevertheless, he takes on the job of campaign manager for Boodles Cary and sets his fertile imagination to work. Their opponent is Anna Patricia Wallace, who has the almost insurmountable advantage of two removable teeth. Buttons, tape-recorded speeches, free giveaways, every campaign device is used. The contest is fierce-and uproarious! Although Carolyn Haywood is at her funniest as she writes of these doings, the story is also one of character. Voting for the right man is more important than voting for a friend, and Eddie discovers this truth the hard way. Readers will love him and his character all the more. There are at least twenty more fun and exciting books by Carolyn Haywood about Eddie, Boodles, Betsy, and their neighborhood friends in the Bookshare collection. Many of these books have picture descriptions.
