- Synopsis
- Aaron Baltner comes from a long and honored line of rabbis, and is committed to carrying on the tradition. But tragedy stalks his young family when he decides to immigrate from Poland to the United States. Sarah, his wife, descends into mental illness, becoming increasingly abusive and violent as the years pass. Aaron struggles to cope with her upheavals, and to understand how a lovng God could permit such suffering. Meanwhile, Aaron's and Sarah's son Daniel is deeply scarred by the turmoil in the home, and must find his own way to peace.
