You'll either love this book or you'll hate it, but for me it served a purpose. Written for graduate students from graduate student perspective (note: not from professors' perspective, you get plenty of that between the lines in grad school), it'll rile up professors who want to bust balls. It'll also rile up the butt-kissers in your department. The attitude is, do a good job, but don't waste your time on stuff that doesn't matter to you. What might that be? The authors tell us that we usually don't know what the unimportant stuff is until it is too late, but they let us in on their experiences. Again, I have a feeling a lot of people will hate this book, but that's mostly because they're the ones being made fun of.
