All the stories are simple but beautiful in expressing values to children (and adults). They shed light upon the happiness of virtue and expose the shattering nature of vice. While some of the speech of children characters seems to be more sophisticated than a child's normal interaction with peers, this discrepancy is easily overlooked in light of the warm feelings and thoughtfulness generated by the stories.
