Don't be fooled by the title, this is a serious scholarly review of a not-so-researched subject. Given my penchant for reality TV shows about hoarding, I was drawn right in. I learned that people who live in severe filth are a small subset of hoarders or not be one at all. They have no attachment to their rubbish and are unaware of their unsanitary conditions. There isn't a lot of research, assessment tools or comprehensive intervention plans involving all the needed community agencies. Sad. Most people have dementia, a physical medical condition or have a rigid personality with laziness. Glad to have read it but it's for the diehards.
