4 - Good Review

Reviewer:

I recommend this debut novel as an easy read with a good story and interesting characters, even though it's not a happy book. Hattie moves to Philadelphia in the 1920's to escape the Jim Crow south and soon starts a family of her own. Her imperfect life is chronicled over the next fifty years through snapshots of the lives of her many children. Lots of mass market appeal.
