- Synopsis
- Guy Montag was a fireman whose job it was to start fires... The system was simple. Everyone understood it. Books were for burning ... along with the houses in which they were hidden. Guy Montag enjoyed his job. He had been a fireman for ten years and he had never questioned the pleasure of the midnight runs nor the joy of watching pages consumed by flames ... never questioned anything until he met a seventeen-year-old girl who told him of a past when people were not afraid. Then he met a professor who told him of a future in which people could think ... and Guy Montag suddenly realized what he had to do!

Ray Bradbury's "Fahrenheit 451" is a book everyone should read. Especially in a world where the media is expanding to the internet and television, this book reminds us why human beings came up with the written language in the fist place! It stresses the importance of thinking, not just doing, and reminds us that sometimes a good, hard jolt can be the best thing for us. The society humans have created in Bradbury's book is both flat and bland, despite it's color- and frightfully realistic! You'll want to read every book you can get your hands on after finishing this!! This book is definitely a classic and a personal favorite!
