This book weaves the story of a resourceful, resilient orphan boy with a history lesson on the origin of pottery. It is a book that holds the attention of both youth and adults. The descriptive language illustrating the life of a young boy intertwines through captivating action making it a hard to put down read. The novel is worth the time to read and discuss. It works well as an independent read, in addition to a good group read.
