- Synopsis
- This is a highly readable documentary account of a series of shark attacks on bathers along the New Jersey shore in 1916. The author weaves together the lives of persons who were attacked (four of whom died) and the social milieu of shore culture during the prosperous years before World War I. He also reconstructs the story of the shark, which becomes a character in the narrative.
