The book, A Boy At War, receives two thumbs up from me. My favorite character was Adam because of his courage. He worked at Pearl Harbor which is something that no one I know at his age would do. At first it took a while to get to the point, but when it did, it took you by surprise. The ending was sad, but at the same time you see it coming. In a way it was also a cliffhanger. Before you set that book down and say I will not like that book, please give it a chance. Also you need to read the author's note. It will explain to anyone more about Pearl Harbor, and the rumors of betrayal or spying by the American Japanese. This was not true. It was sometimes the exact opposite. Please read this book and I promise you will at least somewhat enjoy it.
