Nachdem frühe Begründungen mithilfe so genannter Opfertheorien kritisiert wurden und infolgedessen heute kaum akzeptiert sind, werden progressive Tarife in den Steuerwissenschaften lediglich aus der Perspektive des gesellschaftlichen Ziels der Umverteilung als begründet angesehen. In dem vorliegenden Buch wird deshalb untersucht, ob sich progressive Einkommensteuertarife aus Perspektive des Ziels Gleichmäßigkeit der Besteuerung ökonomisch begründen lassen. Dabei wird auf eine politisch-kulturelle Markttheorie zurückgegriffen.
