Sign Up for an Account

Bookshare offers two account types--Organizational and Individual. Both types of accounts are FREE for qualified U.S. students and schools. Before you sign up, you might want to check to see if your district's Assistive Technology, Visual Impairment and/or Special Education Department has already created an Organizational account for district wide usage. Contact them to find out!

Types of Accounts

Organizational Accounts are for schools and organizations such as community centers, libraries or resource centers who support students with reading barriers. Educators manage the account and assign books to students. Students can only read books that have been assigned to them.

Individual Accounts are for students and adults with reading barriers. The Individual (or parent) manages the account and can read from the full Bookshare collection.

Sign Up My Organization

Go to the Sign Up page and complete the required information. If your organization already has an account, you can request to be added to the account. If your organization does not have an account, fill in your school information and sign and submit the Organizational Agreement form.

Complete the Organizational Agreement

If you are creating a new Organizational account for your school or organization, you will need to complete the Organizational Agreement Form and fax or mail it to Bookshare before your students or members can access books.
