The two collections
The RNIB Bookshare UK education collection requires the educational organisation to create the primary account, members of staff (Sponsors) can then be added to the account along with learners (Members). Our collection contains thousands of accessible books, textbooks and images to support the UK curriculum.
The preferred method is online.
All Bookshare account deletions must be requested and resolved by our Membership team, please Request Help to begin the process.
Prior to purchasing a subscription you will be given an opportunity to indicate that you are a student by selecting the "I am currently a U.S. Student" link from the purchase subscription page.
Once this link is selected you will be taken to a page where you can enter your school information. Please allow some time for our system to fully update and apply your free subscription.
Can I restrict my child's access to certain titles?
Bookshare tags some books as "adult content," which depict extreme violence or explicit sexual content. Those books are not available to readers under 18, or adult readers who "opt out" of seeing adult content in their searches. If you find a title that you believe should be tagged as adult content, please let us know.
To view your download history select the "My History" link from your task bar.
To change your personal information on Bookshare first log into your Bookshare account, then:
The book download limit is based on a revolving 30-day cycle.
- If your limit is 100 books, and 100 books were downloaded on day 1, then additional books wouldn't be available until day 31.
- If 1 book was downloaded on day 1 and 99 books were downloaded on day 2, on day 31, 1 book would be available. On day 32, 99 additional books could be downloaded.
