- Synopsis
- Introduction by the editor, Malcolm Bradbury, explaining the purpose and contents of this collection of 34 stories written after 1945--post-WW II. Note: British spellings and punctuation. There is a wide variety of styles from experimental (Samuel Beckett's "Ping") to traditional (Malcolm Bradbury's "Composition.") Many stories do not provide the protagonist's final choice to the question raised as theme. This leaves the reader with an open-ended option for closure.
