This is the autobiography of Erik Weihenmayer, the first blind mountain-climber to reach the summit of Mount Everest. Born with low vision and totally blind by age thirteen, Weihenmayer discovered a love for mountain-climbing as a teenager. Encouraged by his father he became a serious climber and conceived the idea of scaling the tallest peak on each of the earth's continents. This book describes Weihenmayer's early life, his acquisition of a guide dog, his marriage, his work as a classroom teacher, and most of all, his adventures on mountains.
