- Synopsis
- "The Liberal Papers" is a book of foreign policy essays that grew out of discussions and papers prepared for the 86th Congress, 1959-60. This foreign policy volume of "The Liberal Papers" attempts in broad outline to formulate a program that is rational and responsive to our obligations as a great power and a free society. The essays are reflective, critical, and constructive attempts at an analysis of the constitutive parts of U.S. foreign policy: our defense system and its relationship to true power, international economic development, the American society as it relates to foreign policy, our relationship to international organization, and alternative -- area foreign policies that now should be considered in the political arena.
