As a fantasy-lover who is very picky about books, I'm all too familiar with the cliches, the themes and plot lines that have been hashed and rehashed until they've lost their freshness. When I saw that the prologue of this book was "a history of the gods," I groaned. I was happily surprised. From the first page to the last, my attention was held. The story is both classic and original; the author's style is delightful and captivating. The characters leap from the pages, living, breathing and, especially in the case of formidable yet loveable "Aunt Pol," ready to take on the world. I recommend this book to any lover of fantasy!
