Educators, how do you set up your school’s account?

Now that your account is created, it is time to add qualified students and other educators to the account. Access the Member (Students / Members) and Sponsor (Teachers / Sponsors) rosters under the Manage heading on your Bookshare homepage.

Add Sponsors (Teachers)

With Bookshare, educators or teachers are called Sponsors. To add your colleagues who need to assign books to students on your Organizational Account select the “Manage” link, then select Teachers/Sponsors from the dropdown menu. You can have as many sponsors as you wish, and all of them can assign books to students and add students as members.

Add Members (Students)

Any teacher or sponsor can add students, who we refer to as Members. To add students, select the “Manage” link, then select Students/Members from the dropdown menu. When you add members you will be prompted to select a check box noting the qualifying condition that makes them eligible for Bookshare based on US copyright law. This check box serves as the verification that the student is eligible.

Be sure to set a Username. This is how students log in and access their books. If your district uses a SSO, the username should match their district SSO log in.

Add Individual Membership for students

Sponsors can easily add an Individual Membership to their student’s Organizational account. Individual Memberships are also FREE and follow a student as they go through K-12 and transition to post secondary or employment. Sponsors can still assign books to Indivdiual Members. We recommend all students of transition age be given an Individual Membership. Learn how to add an Individual Membership.
