How do educators assign books to students?

Sponsors assign books to Organizational Members using the Assign & Read feature and/or Reading Lists. Please note that Organizational Members can only read books assigned to them by Sponsors.

Assign Books with Assign & Read

  1. Log into your account.
  2. Search for a book, then select the Assign button.
  3. Select the name of the student(s) you wish to assign this book, then select the Assign button.

Students now have immediate access to the book!

Assign Books with a Reading List

Create a new Reading List

  1. Log in to your account.
  2. Select the My Bookshare link.
  3. Select the My Reading Lists link.
  4. Select the Create button or plus sign icon.
  5. Name the Reading list, select “Member” to share the list with your student(s), or select “Org” to allow other Sponsors on your account to use the list with their students.
  6. Select the Save button to create the list.
  7. Select the Members link to add students to the list. Check the box next to your student(s) names, then select the Add Selected Members button.

Add Books to the Reading List

  1. Select the Reading List you wish to add books to
  2. Select the Add Books button
  3. Enter the title, author, or ISBN of the book you’d like to add, then select the Search button
  4. Check the box next to the book’s title, then select either “Save and Close” or “Save and Add More” until you have added all the books you want
