NEW: All Bookshare members and Sponsors can now sign in to Bookshare using your Google account—as long as you have an existing Bookshare account and your Bookshare username is a Google email address. This is an alternative to entering your username and password.
Before this will work:
- Student Usernames must match their Google Log In. You may need to edit their information on the Member Roster if their usernames are not their Google log in.
- While the Google Single Sign On on the Bookshare website does not require a password, our system does require a password to be entered if the Username field is populated. This password does not have to match their Google log in. The Bookshare Reader mobile app, and other third party reading tools will still require a username and password.
- If the Google account is attached to your school or district, your district’s Google administrator must approve Bookshare within their Google system. This is separate from having a Bookshare account; both are required.
- If you are using a personal Gmail account, no administrator approval is needed.
Sign in with Google
- Go to bookshare.org and select Log in.
- Select the “Sign in with Google” button below the username and password fields. This takes you to a Google sign in screen.
- Select your Google account associated with Bookshare if displayed or select “Use another account” and enter those Google account credentials.
- Signing in with Google links that Google account to your Bookshare account, based on the matching email address.
Notes:
- Your original Bookshare username and password will still work.
- If you use the Bookshare Mobile Reader or other assistive technology devices such as a BrailleNote, that can’t support signing in with Google, keep using your regular Bookshare username and password on that device.
- If you change your Bookshare username later, the Google link isn’t affected. It was set up using the email match from your very first Google sign-in, not your current username.
- You still must enter a password in the Password field
