This is a novel about a Byzantine princess who is forced to marry an Ottoman sultan, although she and his son love each other. There is intrigue, love and hate relationships, sexual scenes. The events are historically accurate; the people and their actions were real. Of course the conversations and personalities are the author's creations, although she seems to have based the personalities on historical descriptions of them nd their actions and reactions. English spelling of many words. The spelling of names and places is accurate. Bosporous and Bosphorous are both used in the book, and the Strait so named can be spelled both ways,so I left the spellings as the author did them.
