The first Rake Patrol novel, from the author of The Education of Mrs. Brimley and Redeeming the Rogue... "A refined gentleman, age 25, of wealth and education, seeks the acquaintance, with a view to matrimony, of a high-minded, kind-hearted lady who prefers an evening of quiet conversation to the lively demands of society." Edwina Hargrove knows that this "gentleman" was, in fact, Ashton Trewelyn, a rake notorious for seducing the young and naive. In fact, five decent women have already been tricked and bundled off to the continent for scandalous purposes. There was a way to thwart his scheme though--by shadowing this devilishly handsome Casanova and warning his prey. If only it were that simple. Wounded and weary, Ashton Trewelyn returns home to London from the King's Royal Rifles, but soon discovers a coded message that has implications to the Crown and his family. His only hope to unravel the mystery lies in the enigmatic Edwina's ability to recognize patterns. Even as he leads her on a path of secret societies and risque temptations, he discovers she arouses his jaded soul with temptations of her own. Must they risk everything to decipher Casanova's code?
Emma Brimley pretends to be a widow to find employment at an all-girl's school. But when she's expected to teach the intimacies of marriage, she strikes a scandalous bargain with a neighboring artist-a man well-versed in bedroom etiquette.
As an agent for the Crown, Michael Rafferty is on the trail of a violent Irish separatist in Washington, D.C. But to complete his disguise as a diplomat, he needs Lady Arianne Chambers to portray his wife. As she teaches the rough Rafferty about high society, he teaches her to unleash the passions she has denied for so long...
Francesca wanted to marry for love, but her social-climbing mother arranged a betrothal to an English duke who is likewise not eager to marry. But a chance encounter and a dash of intrigue make the unwilling couple rethink what they really desire.

Lady of temperance, laird of temptation... Claire Starke has no illusions about her future. As her father repeatedly reminded her, her looks would never win a husband, and her poverty makes her an even less suitable wife. Luckily, her comrades at the Rake Patrol have given her joy and comfort--enough to quell the dull ache for a family of her own. So, when fellow member Faith runs off to the Highlands, investigating a whisky distiller advertising for an English wife, Claire sees no choice but to save her friend from this intemperate and lustful man. But she didn't expect the Highland laird to be so intriguing, or to begin questioning her own restraint... Still reeling from the distillery accident which left him scarred and shaken, Cameron MacPherson has no plans to marry, even if his mother is determined to tie him to one of the British milquetoasts parading through his castle. But when Claire bursts upon the scene, hurling accusations about alcohol and ruin, he finds the reformer fascinating. The fact that she stands up to him when others shrink away is more than charming--this one has spirit and, to be honest, he wouldn't mind drinking a deep draught of her...
