A Friendly Dialogue Between an Atheist and a Christian is an exchange between Luis Palau and Zhao Qizheng presenting a composite of recorded dialogues held in China. Luis Palau is a well known Christian evangelist and Zhao Qizheng is the Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee and former Minister of Information for China. A Friendly Dialogue represents a dialogue on philosophy, history, religion, the Bible, creation, atheism, Confucianism, politics, ethics, Chinese and Western cultures, and the relevance of Jesus Christ to society.
Is God relevant? In this intriguing work, internationally renowned author and public speaker Luis Palau tackles what noted historian Will Durant calls "the greatest question of our time"--whether we can live without God. Admittedly, many individuals today want to go it alone, without God. Either they feel no need for God, or they don't want God in their lives for some reason--perhaps because of a bad experience with organized religion. Or perhaps some have doubts because God seems to be outdated or contrary to current thought. At the heart of such doubts are intellectual questions raised originally by some of modern history's most influential and outspoken atheists and agnostics. Yet despite whatever doubts exist, as we near the turn of the millennium interest in faith and spirituality is as strong as it has ever been, and it continues to grow. Noted religion pollster George Barna says, "Americans are probably more interested in spiritual matters than they have been in any other time in the past forty years. " In this book, Luis Palau shows how God is not an outdated idea but a powerful, personal force that can transform our troubled times and guide us into the coming millennium.
Often called "the next Billy Graham," Luis Palau is among the best-known American evangelists in the world today. His sermons on spirituality and the Christian life, as well as his calls for international and racial harmony, have been heard by hundreds of millions of people at public gatherings and on radio and television in more than ninety-five countries. It's a God Thing brings together stories Palau has gathered on his travels. These stories, often beginning with the words "You won't believe what happened to me," unfold to reveal an unusual and frequently miraculous series of events that transformed the life of the storyteller. Recent polls indicate that the vast majority of Americans-around 90 percent-say they believe in God. Yet even the most consistent churchgoers sometimes wonder why miracles-the recovery of a terminally ill child, the unexpected, much-needed check in the mail-happen to other people. Through its simple, true-life stories, It's a God Thing illustrates the small, often mysterious ways in which God orchestrates events to create something positive amid the confusion and pain of daily life and shows that, even when his intentions are not immediately clear, God gives each individual what he or she needs most.
"Our prayer for you, as you make your way through this book, is that your life would be the next one changed. ...Jesus really does change everything. Whatever you need 'reset' in your life can be changed here and now, today." --From the book's foreword by Josh McDowell, Luis Palau, and Ravi Zacharias #JesusChangesEverything #JesusIsTheReset Let Jesus Be Your Reset Do you want to make a difference with your life, but you're having trouble moving on from your past? "Follow me," Jesus told his early followers, "and I'll show you life as it was meant to be lived." Nick Hall reminds us that Jesus says the same thing to us today: "Trust me. Follow me. Come to me dirty, and I'll clean you up. Come broken, and I'll reassemble the parts. Come desperate, and I'll replace pain with joy. Come to me with all your questions, all your confusion, all your fear. I can reset your purity, your self-image, your faith. Come." Whatever has been holding you back, a reset is available to you by the grace of God. Say yes to the life you were meant to live. From the Hardcover edition.
