- Synopsis
- When Jenny returned with her younger sister to her medical practice in Snowfield after attending the death of their mother, she found the shock of her young life. Everyone in the town was either horribly dead or missing. They found the town silent, apparently abandoned. Then they found the first body strangely swollen and still warm. One hundred fifty were dead, 350 missing. But the terror had only begun in the tiny mountain town of Snowfield, California. At first they thought it was the work of a maniac. Or terrorists. Or toxic contamination. Or a bizarre new disease. But then they found the truth. And they saw it in the flesh. And it was worse than anything any of them had ever imagined....

Dean Koontz may not realize it, but this book is excellent! I've read a lot of his books and Phantoms is the third book that really gave me chills. The story is well told and, like I've said, very creepy. It's about this lonely mountain town in California, two sisters, many other humans, and an evil entity with the power to shape itself into anything it wants to. Desperately the two sisters, several police officers, and some special troops struggle to survive while the evil thing stalks them.
