- Synopsis
- Rushdie has written a rollicking action fantasy. On Haroun's journey to help his famous father regain belief in the World of Stories, they travel to the World of Stories and meet up with all sorts of beings and adventures. There are puns and humor throughout. Amazon.com noted it for Young Adults, but it could be easily read aloud to the great enjoyment of younger readers. (Some of the puns would be over their heads.) Both boys and girls will equally enjoy this book.

Wonderful fantasy enjoyment here. Different puns will be noted by different ages of readers. None are inappropriate for any age, just won't be appreciated. I'd thought this was going to be a collection of stories, but isn't. "The Sea of Stories" is a place where Haroun and his father go to save the world's stories. (That's the result but not the reason they go there.) As I proofread this book something kept niggling at me about it. There are no illustrations in the book, but my mind so easily visualized everything based on the descriptions. Finally I realized, that for sighted people of all ages, it would be an excellent animated movie. For blind people, the different voices could be great fun along with descriptive service. This book is a definite keeper!
