- Synopsis
- Babe is a piglet won by a farmer who has sheep and Border Collie dogs. His favorite dog is named Fly. Fly raises the piglet with her puppies who are alter sold to other sheep farmers. She teaches Babe to herd sheep. Instead of using the collie's way of demands for behaviors, Babe uses courtesy to convince the unruly sheep to do what she wants. It works. The farmer sees what's happening, although he does not understand the animal speech, and he makes a plan. He trains Babe to enter the Grand Challenge Sheep Dog trials. So what happens when a pig enters? Read and find out! Note: British spelling and punctuation. Picture descriptions included. Also, in the British farm communities the females are called bitches and the males called dogs. The word "bitch" is not a negative use, just means it's a female. Fly is often referred to as a bitch in the story.
