- Synopsis
- This book argues that questions about race were central to the construction of Syrian ethnicity in the United States in the first half of the twentieth century. It examines how Syrian immigrants were racialized by American politics, culture, and law and, as a result, came to view themselves in racial terms and position themselves within racial hierarchies.
