- Synopsis
- WHENEVER A PLANE CRASHES, a "Go-Team" is assembled to investigate. The members of that team—each a leading expert in a specific field—are known informally as "Crashers." Usually the team has months to determine the cause of a crash. But this time it's different: They have only three days before terror strikes again. When a passenger plane slams into the ground outside Portland, Oregon, an investigative team is quickly brought together. The team, under the leadership of pathologist "Tommy" Tomzak, and assembled by Susan Tanaka, the intergovernmental liaison from the NTSB, includes: Kiki Duvall, voice recorder specialist and a "sonar witch" who can hear things others can't; John Roby, a former cop and bomb expert; Walter Mulroney, who can rebuild any plane from the bolts up; engineer Peter Kim; and pilot Isaiah Grey. As the Crashers grapple with the evidence, they discover the truth behind the crash—that the plane was brought down deliberately and that this crash was merely a trial run—and realize they must move fast if they are to stop the next attack. Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, Daria Gibron, a former Israeli intelligence agent, spots a group of suspicious-looking men. Missing her former life, she attaches herself to them only to learn that, somehow, they were responsible for the catastrophe in Oregon and are preparing for another action. Daria risks her life to try to get close enough to learn what's going on and to thwart their plans. But time is running out and her cover story is running thin. Crashers is a fresh and utterly compelling thriller, an original mix of action and investigation, with a brilliant cast of characters, that grabs and holds the reader spellbound all the way through to the surprising, breathtaking conclusion.
