Abuse exists everywhere. That is a tragic reality. Verbally, and physically abused by his father, Monty learned to take abuse, to roll with the punches. But he couldn't bear seeing the unnecessary brutality with which horses were "broken" in those days. A champion horseman by age 8, he watched horses natural behaviors, and developed a method of "starting" horses with no strings, and no whips, without touching them. He was a genius. But his father still ridiculed, chastised, and hit him whenever he defied the old ways. Read this book if you are interested in horses. Read this book if you are interested in revolution, in changing times, in changing perceptions. And definitely read this book if you are interested in defiance with a cause, spirit, resilience, believing in yourself, and changing the world.
