Integral Trees by Larry Niven. This is the work of a true Sci-Fi writer. Niven makes a whole new world that is braced around trees and forests. A ship is orbiting around the planet, waiting for its crew to come back. Kendy is a computer with a human’s mind. The mother ship in orbit around the planet hosts this major computer. Several smaller ships were launched downwards and were lost. In this first book, Kendy is lost and just waking up from his 500-year sleep. I’m very curious about this mammoth computer. What can he do? What is the State now? What other planets are there? I would say any Sci-Fi reader would love this. There is not really any supernatural power, but evolution does play a part in this book. I can’t wait to get into the next book in the series, The Smoke Ring.
