- Synopsis
- Sally leaves for school in a bad mood because she couldn't find her clothes and because she hurt her foot stepping on a toy. Her room is in a bad mood, too. The cluttered objects left behind complain about the mess they are in. Socks are draped over the lamp. The bed is full of puzzle pieces. More socks and a purse cover the globe. A mountain of dirty clothes, a boot, a belt, and an umbrella are spilling off a chair. They agree it is time for a change and follow Sally to school to tell her so, stopping traffic and surprising Sally and her classmates. She races home, arriving before the furniture and mess returns and realizes how much fun she could have in her room which seems so much bigger without the mess. When her mess returns she sets to work sorting, cleaning and putting everything away. Young children will have fun reading this book themselves or having it read to them. They will learn along with Sally how clutter causes trouble and how to clean up a messy room. At the end, along with Sally, they'll be dancing for joy. The validator has described some pictures, in parenthesis, after the text on the pages where they appear.
