- Synopsis
- That Others May Live, first published in 2004, is an overview of U.S. Air Force operations to rescue downed airmen on land and at sea during the Korean War (1950-1953). At the beginning of the conflict, the Air Rescue Service was in its infancy, but as the conflict grew, so did the success rate of the techniques used, and improvements to the aircraft employed by the service to successfully rescue hundreds of airmen. The book describes the types of helicopters and other aircraft used, the development of support bases, and details a number of rescue missions into enemy territory. Included are 12 pages of photographs and maps.
