- Synopsis
- The United States Immigration Border Patrol came into being by an act of the United States Congress in 1924. It was then that such men as, Dogie Wright, Flecher Rawls, Frank Edgell, Shellie Barnes, Emmit Hunter, Carson Morrow, Buck West, Walter Miller and others were hired to patrol the borders of the United States to enforce the Immigration laws. The enforcement of these and other Federal laws along the Mexican border is what this book is about. This book is written from a diary that I kept daily every day I worked. Very little effort has been made to explain the routine work it takes to apprehend a Mexican "wetback". Hundreds of them are apprehended by the Patrol every day and every night. The Patrol, under the existing laws, has about as much chance of controlling them as a man with one leg would have at a butt kicking. An effort has been made to show in this book some of the reasons for so many illegal aliens being here and where the fault lies. This book may irritate some of the Politicians and Policy Makers and if it does I have no thoughts of regret.
