“You learn to take the good with the bad. We’re all people, bro. Nobody’s perfect.” Says David Ortiz, in Big Papi, an autobiography of David Ortiz co-written with Tony Massarotti. This is an amazing book I strongly recommend to any and all Red Sox fans.<p> While reading this book I felt like Big Papi was right there talking to me in person. You really get and inside look of his career starting with the minor leagues to the Twin’s to his most famous of all and current Red Sox. I was reading this book and I came to the conclusion he really is one of us. It is a book I found myself not being able to put down.<p> The book shows where he came from and some of the harsh realities of life and the heart touching and tragic story of his mothers death due to a car accident. This is a big part in his life which left him with his father always by his side encouraging him to keep going and to go further. <p> When reading you feel as if you are on a personal level with David Ortiz. You get a great look at what many of us and his opponents consider one of the best players in today’s Major League Baseball. His story is one of those in a movie. It seems too much to be real. There are many highs and lows in the book. It’s like being on a rollercoaster. He talks about the playoffs in 2004 against the Yankees. Also how his fame sometimes takes away form his life, because he is a caring guy he feels bad that he can’t always help everyone. <p> It’s not only an easy read but a great read that I truly enjoyed. His story is one to touch all in one way or another, even if you’re not a Red Sox fan although it really helps if you are. It may not be appropriate for all reads due to some language but it will be ok for most. Other than that I can’t say anything bad about it. <p> <p> -OscarHernandez-
