- Synopsis
- This unique workbook combines remembrance, grief work and self-discovery to give our loss an important meaning. The authors invite readers to utilize anamnesis, a Greek term defined as remembering and bringing the past into the present. When we create meaning and allow the past to come into our present, we can choose specific memories that we want to bring forward to enrich our present. By selecting certain values, lessons and traditions to continue, we take control of our past and present. Our journey through grief is complete when we are able to gain meaning from our loss, keeping our loved one’s memories alive and looking forward to a new path of our own. This does not mean that we will never shed any tears again from this point on; rather, we are able to go through poignant moments stemming from our grief with an understanding of its meaning and significance in our present lives. We become aware that the loss is so much a part of our lives; we accept it and have grown because of it.
