- Synopsis
- The Cost is the gripping, historically accurate but fictionalized account of the Jennings family's voyage by flat boat down the Tennessee, Ohio and Cumberland Rivers as members of Colonel John Donelson's expedition during the 1780's. Among the first settlers to the region, the Jennings risked all they had and ultimately paid the highest cost for their move West. Taken from the journal of Colonel John Donelson, and other sources, The Cost recounts the rugged river voyage and personal sacrifices of the travelers. The promise of a better life on the frontier brought them to Fort Nashboro and the settlement of what was later to become Nashville, Tennessee.
